The book, which has minimal text, shows the family (consisting of mother, daughter of about seven, and toddler) getting their tickets, changing in cubicles and entering the busy pool. Mum reassures the children that the water isn’t cold. Mum and toddler have fun in the water, and she praises him when he swims on his own with armbands on (he enjoys swimming so much he is reluctant to get out at the end of the session!) The daughter is shown swimming independently. The family are shown having a warm drink in the car after their swim, and hanging their wet swimsuits up to dry at home.

Going Swimming
This is a good introduction to a typical visit to a swimming pool. It depicts the hustle and bustle which is often a feature of public swimming baths in a positive way which may reassure an apprehensive child.
