Hector is one of Tilly’s toy friends, and loves being close to her. When Tilly’s other toys decide to come for a cuddle too, Hector doesn’t feel so special – and gets cross and sad. The other toys try to cheer Hector up by asking him to join in their play, but he’s not interested: he just wants to be with Tilly. He cheers up, though, when Tilly paints a lovely picture of him which shows him that just because she sometimes plays with her other toys, doesn’t mean she doesn’t love him. This is a quirkily-illustrated book with simple words and lots of energy that will appeal particularly to young children. It may help children deal with sibling rivalry and sharing parental affections.
