The little girl in the story just can’t understand why her cat sleeps all the time. All her friends seem to have ‘fun cats’ who spend their days engaged in frantic activity. At first she is frustrated by her pet’s slothfulness, but she slowly begins to see the positive side: he’s always there for a cuddle, and keeps her feet warm at night. The final illustration in the book reveal the cause of the sleepiness, showing him having a ‘night out on the tiles’, entertaining the neighbourhood cats with his dustbin dancing!

Things we liked: A charming and beautifully illustrated story. We loved the pictures of the girl's desperate attempts to motivate her cat (by hooking him onto trees, and pinning up instructions of how to dig for worms!) Children will love pointing out all the places the cats are sleeping on the endpapers of the paperback version.
