Alfie is crazy about space. His favourite things are: 1. aliens, 2. rockets, 3. the moon – in that exact order. When his new sister comes along, he notices that she looks a bit funny, she talks funny and sometimes she smells and he realizes . . . she MUST BE AN ALIEN! Alfie decides that baby Ruby would appreciate a visit ‘back home’ and takes her by rocket to the moon, where the pair have a tea party with the cute (baby-like) aliens who live there. When it’s time to go home, Alfie feels sad to leave his sister, so they both set off back to his cosy bed at home for a cuddle. Alfie decides that Ruby is even more special to him than aliens, rockets and the moon.

Things we liked: This is a very positive book about new babies. Many stories written on this subject depict the older sibling as jealous and resentful, whereas the little boy in this story shows genuine affection for his new sister. The beautiful illustrations perfectly compliment this witty and quirky tale.
