Super Duper You

Author: Sophy Henn
Illustrator: Sophy Henn
Publisher: Puffin

“The trick is not to worry about what you are not. Instead enjoy the things you are and all the brills you’ve got!”

A loving big brother describes his little sister in this beautifully illustrated book by Sophy Henn. She is a combination of traits and passions which makes her completely unique. Some days she is bold and adventurous, other days things don’t seem ‘quite right’. On one day she likes dressing up in frills and sparkles, on another she prefers a superhero outfit. The important message that is conveyed is that whatever you are, be proud of it!

The messages we found in this book:

Acknowledgement:

  • It is completely normal to have a wide range of emotions; nobody is happy and positive all the time.

Guidance:

  • You don’t have to be the same as everyone else to be loved and accepted
  • Rather than worry about what you are NOT, enjoy all the brilliant things you ARE.
  • It is often easy to label someone as shy, anxious, confident, etc, whereas in truth most people don’t fall into these neat categories. Things can change day to day.
  • You are Super Duper!
